Sword Art Online To Get A Live-Action American TV Series

Laeta Kalogridis will write the script. Production company also plans on a VR experience.

American independent production company Skydance Television announced on Tuesday that it has acquired the global live-action television rights for the Sword Art Online (SAO) franchise from Kadokawa.

The company plans to fast-track the launch of a live-action television series. Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Terminator Genisys) is writing the script and executive producing along with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross of Skydance. Kalogridis, who also penned drafts for the live-action Alita: Battle Angel and Ghost in the Shell films, mentioned that she has “for years… been inspired by the inventive and masterful storytelling of the SAO franchise.”

I don’t think this will be as successful as the anime. It would just feel really weird watching a live action one than an anime version.

well this live action going to crash a burn just like most out their… so disappointing tbh.

Yeah I sort of agree with that. The Attack on Titan live action movie looked good but the graphics were off and it was just really “cringy” to watch. I would love to see an SAO live action but I know for a fact that it would be very difficult to make the graphics and world floors accurate and realistic. Still, I would love to see them try to make one.

Ok the graphics were actually pretty good and it wasn’t super cringy. It was different from the Anime thats all. The graphics aren’t made by people with fantastic Marvel Movie animation and thats fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I think with how far off it was from the anime that it was a fantastic movie and the graphics were to be expected like that. Just because its 2017 doesn’t mean that all movies will have badass graphics like the marvel movies some people don’t have all the equipment and tech for that
